<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Boy <i>howdy</i> have I been busy! Remember <a href="http://www.knotjustmacrame.com/2018/07/a-new-micro-macrame-tutorial.html" target="_blank">my last post</a> where I finished up the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/610780098/micro-macrame-button-bracelet-tutorial?ref=shop_home_active_11" target="_blank">Micro Macrame Button Bracelet Tutorial</a>? I agonized over what colors to choose for the tutorial (some colors don't photograph as well and others I just don't like as well) as well as what button to feature. I wanted to choose one that was fun and different but one that folks could find to buy if they wanted to. I settled on the antique silver elephant button and thought I had several on hand.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Um, not so much. And when I went to find them to buy more, I had a heck of a time finding them. Which is the way it usually goes for me. Anyway, I found a few and made up some <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/614463176/elephant-button-micro-macrame-bracelet?ref=shop_home_active_3" target="_blank">kits</a> with the exact cord, beads & button I used to make the tutorial!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAxoVM00hauLbLmjyYZttyOKt7gcoKRhXs2VzNPFv8Hjwbr971SV_cKYyiZN37RlOVbBqxT91HnC05L5ip-QL92BDTc09dzusQnLiLrM4DCKP6czFtmgEfN2zwXZMfLovwCcb75zCfevE/s1600/DSCN2238.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1194" data-original-width="1600" height="238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAxoVM00hauLbLmjyYZttyOKt7gcoKRhXs2VzNPFv8Hjwbr971SV_cKYyiZN37RlOVbBqxT91HnC05L5ip-QL92BDTc09dzusQnLiLrM4DCKP6czFtmgEfN2zwXZMfLovwCcb75zCfevE/s320/DSCN2238.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I try to make up quite a few kits when I finally get the gumption to put some together (it's not my favorite thing to do) so I decided to do a kit in khaki:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ85cyKLQka3brI1-a3_ebFJGLlRvMYKw3PkVcAwYapnQtljlBaUsugS0PgPI1lOQTwMY5LoUq5Mx1rNJN9znqPxfcHsMv0rMM8Yf-cqEHd9o0bCVSLcy5bUpXJINJRtZ04qFe4gIyLDE/s1600/DSCN2240.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ85cyKLQka3brI1-a3_ebFJGLlRvMYKw3PkVcAwYapnQtljlBaUsugS0PgPI1lOQTwMY5LoUq5Mx1rNJN9znqPxfcHsMv0rMM8Yf-cqEHd9o0bCVSLcy5bUpXJINJRtZ04qFe4gIyLDE/s400/DSCN2240.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made up an example of this one in matte metallic khaki iris with a whitewashed copper tree button and then discovered I didn't have enough of that button, either. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWBc27CYdQWlBc0ifaqn-zhT2qBUTZsTjZ513R8av7kM0apSyvCLhTu4ZXwJ5-PXQ_I-wYK8oGR4075MPyNqYOHaxoStFsHGrqSiS6bOFuk4i7KcBIfGP2XQNnRbsp2Iv_WNQW7PJUtmA/s1600/DSCN2242.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1191" data-original-width="1600" height="476" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWBc27CYdQWlBc0ifaqn-zhT2qBUTZsTjZ513R8av7kM0apSyvCLhTu4ZXwJ5-PXQ_I-wYK8oGR4075MPyNqYOHaxoStFsHGrqSiS6bOFuk4i7KcBIfGP2XQNnRbsp2Iv_WNQW7PJUtmA/s640/DSCN2242.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
'</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I made up a handful of kits with the same beads and cord but with a different button - whitewashed copper filigree (isn't it pretty!).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also replenished some of the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/KnotJustMacrame?section_id=10647872" target="_blank">Leaves kits</a>, so if you've been waiting on one of those, you'll find a selection <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/KnotJustMacrame?section_id=10647872" target="_blank">here</a>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And now that I can check that off my To Do List, I'm heading back out to the pool! Catch you later!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWcmj4WhXodfBFWo-9uHlhk4F2hAzi6h6bSXIlbyA4OA-Du0Z2weqWcIMFDCXO-B4hIPbDmbVBPXvPrDI6mxuryUxBMZ5POaWa3Y7QIraMCtoX4KcCX91UDK0N9JtAqEUySsIYZzaN0dc/s1600/5b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1173" data-original-width="1600" height="468" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWcmj4WhXodfBFWo-9uHlhk4F2hAzi6h6bSXIlbyA4OA-Du0Z2weqWcIMFDCXO-B4hIPbDmbVBPXvPrDI6mxuryUxBMZ5POaWa3Y7QIraMCtoX4KcCX91UDK0N9JtAqEUySsIYZzaN0dc/s640/5b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm BACK and I'm positively giddy with excitement and a (probably undeserved) sense of accomplishment! I finally got around to getting a tutorial put together for knotting a micro macrame bracelet using a button as a centerpiece. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTglJxExW1XYRlQyXjiSi9xcHY8HaLiNtZY_uoJY-qKI715UVVSVapiHC3egPD-owD8GVy8-L6lfmaWbG1gi4pqnhNOfk0TAuIxgwAABuYud-DWFRPBhdKdV28bwoic-ozvv4NuvHZruI/s1600/29573183_2255963874417556_22496414101155689_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="782" data-original-width="960" height="325" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTglJxExW1XYRlQyXjiSi9xcHY8HaLiNtZY_uoJY-qKI715UVVSVapiHC3egPD-owD8GVy8-L6lfmaWbG1gi4pqnhNOfk0TAuIxgwAABuYud-DWFRPBhdKdV28bwoic-ozvv4NuvHZruI/s400/29573183_2255963874417556_22496414101155689_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm not sure what it is about a button, but something about them makes me happy. Maybe it's the fact that they're so limited in size and unlimited in subject matter and execution? Any way you slice it, I find myself drawn to them and have amassed my own little treasure trove. There are all kinds of buttons there from Czech glass to handmade ceramics and everything in between. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIeMNoHASoUyfzYNBcYu52QlWnDFMlv-wvkfVX57Ygt-4jLEM28-GptKlRUQYCnfz2LeHnxWinC1zyzCAGNlQP0ILZ9eoXobWJmbnL3H-NPCyQvFxL9hCJ6eoatswXTWNrLjLLXIFERu4/s1600/DSCN1993.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIeMNoHASoUyfzYNBcYu52QlWnDFMlv-wvkfVX57Ygt-4jLEM28-GptKlRUQYCnfz2LeHnxWinC1zyzCAGNlQP0ILZ9eoXobWJmbnL3H-NPCyQvFxL9hCJ6eoatswXTWNrLjLLXIFERu4/s400/DSCN1993.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This copper dragon button is probably my favorite button overall but it's been discontinued (anyone have any sway with a button manufacturer? We need these back!) Oh, but I've wandered off topic,, haven't I? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7hvybxFbphHUoCTyvyPWo6EzcoXr7JCT8e8Po2w1KdkqD35Wi2SI9qwssRs3dz3cd_6Bhvw_0RykoCsYFOneOIHCB-aGDpwkRItsM1aA2QqNCC605tB1wH5dDeFWUTOCbUH2VUynfKl8/s1600/DSCN2235c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7hvybxFbphHUoCTyvyPWo6EzcoXr7JCT8e8Po2w1KdkqD35Wi2SI9qwssRs3dz3cd_6Bhvw_0RykoCsYFOneOIHCB-aGDpwkRItsM1aA2QqNCC605tB1wH5dDeFWUTOCbUH2VUynfKl8/s640/DSCN2235c.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, if you're like me and have a little collection of special buttons (if not, looks like you have an excuse to shop for one!), this project is the perfect way to showcase one. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As usual, I've included way more photos than you probably need, but that's just the way I roll. There are over 70 pictures included in 20 pages of instruction. I've written this tutorial for folks who know how to make a couple basic micro macrame knots, but if you aren't there yet, don't worry! My blog has a tab just for macrame knot videos!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Okay, that's it. That's all I've got for today - I'm headed for the couch to put my feet up. Go over to <a href="http://www.knotjustmacrame.etsy.com/" target="_blank">my Etsy shop</a> and get your <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/610780098/micro-macrame-button-bracelet-tutorial?ref=shop_home_active_1" target="_blank">tut</a>!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSO6wpCDGepecRFHzuzcO8U9fVpAAj9P558TaFpPBl6sGMHXubTh3InM0ur2A9siNWrJMris3_ksqUmAOU13VVqQfrVpUryUiHVe4IAL-jf5e0F9Git3LeqqeErsVxdGAYBVtdl6PN7Vw/s1600/DSCN2099.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSO6wpCDGepecRFHzuzcO8U9fVpAAj9P558TaFpPBl6sGMHXubTh3InM0ur2A9siNWrJMris3_ksqUmAOU13VVqQfrVpUryUiHVe4IAL-jf5e0F9Git3LeqqeErsVxdGAYBVtdl6PN7Vw/s640/DSCN2099.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a theory: I don't think there's any color combination that won't "work" if you keep at it long enough. I love thinking up some oddball combo and playing with it to see what happens. This time I chose a deep olive green, soft turquoise and yellow. I really wanted a good mustard color but couldn't find the right color of beads (yes, even with my stash) so I went with this soft lemon color. I'm loving the outcome!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If I had to come up with some suggestions for making unusual color combinations work, I'd say:<br />
<br />
1. Start with three colors. Two can get boring (unless you play with texture and finishes) and four gets pretty busy on smaller jewelry pieces. Think of Three like Baby Bear: just right.<br />
<br />
2. Vary the finishes. I like to combine matte with shiny and I use a lot of beads with a rainbow or iris finish (both matte and shiny). The coating seems to help the beads blend a little better since the color isn't as solid.<br />
<br />
3. Try changing the intensity of the colors. If you're trying to combine blue, green and yellow for example, you'll get a much different look by using navy blue than you will using sky blue. Using all bright or dark colors or even all pastels is less interesting to me than combining a deep navy and dark green with a very soft yellow. Or a strong green and yellow with that sky blue. <br />
<br />
4. Try an "off" color. Try subbing mustard yellow instead of a true yellow. Or turquoise instead of true blue. Again, much more interesting.<br />
<br />
5. Experiment. I like to make a pile of the colors I'm considering. I dig out any and all possibilities and start there. Here is an example:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmaUZg_9COBGnfqC-Hq3yyiRg9l5O6ZxJWIJdg8ANH18Pzs_0TsEaxVixxa2AA6XulX_d6YQ5wH-J_sihyphenhyphenzLAogtG_WFuZz_AeZQZlt9wcZpjJmwryk3tyJu9pQj92AzLHiWWdAyku4CM/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1135" data-original-width="1600" height="452" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmaUZg_9COBGnfqC-Hq3yyiRg9l5O6ZxJWIJdg8ANH18Pzs_0TsEaxVixxa2AA6XulX_d6YQ5wH-J_sihyphenhyphenzLAogtG_WFuZz_AeZQZlt9wcZpjJmwryk3tyJu9pQj92AzLHiWWdAyku4CM/s640/PicMonkey+Collage5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Not all of the beads or every color of cord ends up in the finished piece, but putting them together and adding and subtracting colors is a good way to figure out which direction you want to go.<br />
<br />
6. My last piece of advice is to look around you for color inspiration. Take the time to actually LOOK at the things around you and think about those colors. <br />

In a nutshell? Have fun with color and don't be afraid to fail. You might just learn something really interesting even in that failure. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This copper button featuring a Celtic dragon design is one of my all-time favorites. I absolutely love the graceful flowing lines of this one. They made it in brass and silver as well, but the copper one just has something special - that "it" factor. And the copper plays so well with the khaki cord and beads, don't you think? Of course, since I love every single thing about this button, it's no longer being manufactured. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I found out they were no longer making them, I bought up everything I could find so I have a little stash of them. Every once in a while I get them out and make up a few special pieces with them. Mostly I'd rather hold onto them and fondle them, but I know that's probably not the most healthy relationship to have with a button so I force myself to let go of a few. Especially since I recently went through my entire bead stash and organized everything and realized just how many cool buttons I have:</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hi, my name is Sherri and I'm a button hoarder. I have glass buttons (Czech glass mostly - heck out that peacock beauty!) and handmade ceramic buttons and vintage buttons and colorful sugar skull buttons and painted buttons and antiqued buttons... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjB0b4Rvc9YQfQjw96EaadKrJRrPUNy148pzO3z4V-zwG2XTRiuyPx2zLUHK5yCMPpR6kPi3B8dP9YSfke4K8RGbe9kiNysnB3fJWfaVbCi1XL7lS1SnoEoxW-owAddaFqzcO4PDBvSH4Q/s1600/DSCN1993.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="478" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjB0b4Rvc9YQfQjw96EaadKrJRrPUNy148pzO3z4V-zwG2XTRiuyPx2zLUHK5yCMPpR6kPi3B8dP9YSfke4K8RGbe9kiNysnB3fJWfaVbCi1XL7lS1SnoEoxW-owAddaFqzcO4PDBvSH4Q/s640/DSCN1993.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And a tiny little stash of copper Celtic dragon buttons. I've listed a few bracelets featuring them in <a href="http://www.knotjustmacrame.etsy.com/" target="_blank">my Etsy shop</a> and now I'll put away the remainder for a while and focus on something else. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And I'll keep searching for more of these. I'll bet there's a shop out there somewhere with some of them in a dusty back corner just waiting to be rediscovered. The idea of that haunts me. Or taunts me, I guess. I told you it wasn't a healthy relationship!</div>

Look who finally got busy and finished a tutorial! I'd recommend this <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/599072087/micro-macrame-mandala-pendant-tutorial?ref=pr_shop" target="_blank">Micro macrame Mandala Necklace tutorial</a> for intermediate macrame enthusiasts with a working knowledge of double half hitch and larks head knots. As long as you can do those, you should be able to follow these instructions. I've included over 60 photos like this one:</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To quote a friend of mine, "I'm gobsmacked!" There's a new love in my life: laser etched Kite beads. They come in different patterns (I sense more in my future) but I chose the ones with the leaf design. They have a soft metallic finish and the colors are absolutely incredible - shades of blue and green with flashes of turquoise and even purple. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwK_IiWfEJK-slUN4KgdkleLA38w6ufcd2Wm0sYFYDIIp3wbIacZWCCne8DnVLIB63hv6u5W0dyo0Z3Je6aVqoG1ZyblYHW7m_vkabCSTZ-tDyX8fVhTf9RxOeobWfn4dO2FY_6mbjUmY/s1600/DSCN1944d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1207" data-original-width="1600" height="482" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwK_IiWfEJK-slUN4KgdkleLA38w6ufcd2Wm0sYFYDIIp3wbIacZWCCne8DnVLIB63hv6u5W0dyo0Z3Je6aVqoG1ZyblYHW7m_vkabCSTZ-tDyX8fVhTf9RxOeobWfn4dO2FY_6mbjUmY/s640/DSCN1944d.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been working on a new tutorial for this necklace design with a circular mandala pendant using the new Kite beads. I started with an incredibly vibrant blue and thought I couldn't love any of them any more than these. And then I met the laser etched guys. They're sexy and they know it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlEw-Zqjq63mM0ZqHwwxKxQszuyii_BTFfkAaInxobTEK0ndISH5A1ZRUaco_BmW-O9UOpL1mqFWjymmEi3n8NjASGMldRgRlfOBJLw0Q9_ODJDjF5SFvrOq3TnI-2X8YLOYLOyFp4hKM/s1600/DSCN1986.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1278" data-original-width="1600" height="510" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlEw-Zqjq63mM0ZqHwwxKxQszuyii_BTFfkAaInxobTEK0ndISH5A1ZRUaco_BmW-O9UOpL1mqFWjymmEi3n8NjASGMldRgRlfOBJLw0Q9_ODJDjF5SFvrOq3TnI-2X8YLOYLOyFp4hKM/s640/DSCN1986.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Just look at that detail! It's hard to get a good photo of the depth of color on them (might help if I was a better and/or more patient photographer, but that's another story). I seem to be picking up mostly the blue and a bit of light green in the pictures, but trust me, the other colors are there.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, stay tuned for a new tutorial. I hope to have it available in a week or so. I'd promise sooner, but I've got another project going on right now:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsYdIxJpD03hbe3VS-11YYI4mpXOgVPvePe2fTblZX0K_qhCeNPPpNm4Ee7L4bTGMPhRiDmhIr9k2w1e2Rekl2VjphwI825fAvIo2G0L4t_dPqbkXMN6goSDSlfyzW2EV8VAlLFVz0Igc/s1600/D5B389F1-DCA6-4C45-A236-11B7BCDB5454.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsYdIxJpD03hbe3VS-11YYI4mpXOgVPvePe2fTblZX0K_qhCeNPPpNm4Ee7L4bTGMPhRiDmhIr9k2w1e2Rekl2VjphwI825fAvIo2G0L4t_dPqbkXMN6goSDSlfyzW2EV8VAlLFVz0Igc/s640/D5B389F1-DCA6-4C45-A236-11B7BCDB5454.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We are putting new carpet in about half of our house (1008 square feet to be exact) and painting as well. I've got nine different colors on my wall so far with no clear winner, but I think we've agreed on the taupe carpet. I wanted gray, he wanted tan so we met in the middle at taupe. Seems fair, right? I also wanted hardwood and he wanted carpet, so the bedrooms and the family room are getting carpet and living room, dining room, kitchen and den are getting hardwood. The wood floors won't happen until we figure out exactly what we're going to do with the kitchen: I want to tear out a wall to open up the space and move everything around. He wants me to stop wanting things. *grin*</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been trying to balance the time I dreaming up stuff to do to my house and the time I spend doing macrame, while throwing a good bit of time spent playing Words With Friends. It's tough being retired.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Hey, there! I'm still here - holing up in my house until winter decides to go away. The National Weather Service guys announced last week that we've surpassed our previous record for the snowiest three month period. We've had over 35" of snow since December 1st and I am <i>over</i> it. I'm dreaming of green grass and trees with leaves and warm sunshine on my face. Put all that by the pool and a margarita in my hand and <i>now</i> we're talking. *sigh*</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Beadsmith folks have been keeping me supplied with fun new beads, so at least I have something to do while I'm trapped indoors. I'm still playing around with mandalas in micro macrame. I'm really liking the circular shape and the symmetry of them and they're a really great way to show off different shapes of beads.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNhBfZUNQwqXSar61Kkrc9vo9Pmad1xX3_bjamPQjKcJn8owwf_wlsj2fiwgn00l8gC8ho8iqW8R8KYu6WGfLtm1eSSgpvaBKp8Vu_gAtNd0vIV7-uh8yOpgLqToj4kkLNQdk7IoDLxjk/s1600/20180129_30a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNhBfZUNQwqXSar61Kkrc9vo9Pmad1xX3_bjamPQjKcJn8owwf_wlsj2fiwgn00l8gC8ho8iqW8R8KYu6WGfLtm1eSSgpvaBKp8Vu_gAtNd0vIV7-uh8yOpgLqToj4kkLNQdk7IoDLxjk/s640/20180129_30a.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The necklace above has some Cali beads (the bronze ones about halfway into the pendant) and Silkies (the square/diamond shaped ones close to the edge). I did this piece in raku colors and added a beaded strap which I think works really well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also made a bracelet with the Cali beads:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_JSWJKHyOF3KiAOlcQFmmLlUWoPwxNh1qWGmBTzjNU1kAtyeOS3IjoTt4k078NnVA3ggYany6KWbRSpIJFW4NLGqUdO3TeOaluWg5RyIfjBfYYanmuokQYXAjj2p17J1YBukYn0mQlwk/s1600/20180111_38a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_JSWJKHyOF3KiAOlcQFmmLlUWoPwxNh1qWGmBTzjNU1kAtyeOS3IjoTt4k078NnVA3ggYany6KWbRSpIJFW4NLGqUdO3TeOaluWg5RyIfjBfYYanmuokQYXAjj2p17J1YBukYn0mQlwk/s640/20180111_38a.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The chunkier design of this piece is a nice change of pace from the usual lacy look of my micro macrame pieces, don't you think?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Just popping by to say Happy Valentine's Day! Yes, that's me. I got a wild hair the other day and decided to curl my hair and put on some makeup. Then I figured I'd better take a picture of it to prove that I really did it. I'm doing well just to shower and get dressed by noon a lot of days and that's if you count sweats as "dressed". I'm retired - it happens.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But back to the topic at hand: I know it's a corny, made-up holiday, but when you're from Valentine, Nebraska, Valentine's Day is a big deal! If you've missed my previous posts on the topic, you might want to check <a href="http://www.knotjustmacrame.com/2013/08/valentine-nebraska-heart-of-sandhills.html" target="_blank">this post about Valentine</a> because it really is a beautiful place. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sometimes I like to celebrate the season with a special Valentine's Day piece. Here are a couple of the pieces I've done in the past:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This year I decided to make something with some tiny little heart shaped Czech glass beads I've had for ages and since I've been on a roll with mandala pendants...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Want a closer look?</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love the way the hearts are frosted and have one side puffier than the other. I think it adds a lot of interest, don't you?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That's it; that's all I've got. Happy knotting & Happy Valentine's Day!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Are you looking for a micro macrame project that is just a little more challenging? If so, I've got just the thing for you: my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/592212051/argus-cuff-in-micro-macrame-tutorial?ref=pr_shop" target="_blank">Argus Cuff</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This design was previously available only as an online class, but I've converted it to a downloadable .pdf file. The instructions are step by step and I've included lots of closeup photos (over 50) like this one:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpoP8-bEnLmJ4e6VQlBrg07FpKJVmyRDjtwahy_sFV3RBWKB8BxM9rD6jrL36n7usspWJZYAjBEWohwf2azG4qp1kP6vIhS2d05ZnpyJ6ZGJyxLJL1V6aWuBKGW1KRWPnzvsT_G5i4xpw/s1600/5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="350" data-original-width="443" height="252" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpoP8-bEnLmJ4e6VQlBrg07FpKJVmyRDjtwahy_sFV3RBWKB8BxM9rD6jrL36n7usspWJZYAjBEWohwf2azG4qp1kP6vIhS2d05ZnpyJ6ZGJyxLJL1V6aWuBKGW1KRWPnzvsT_G5i4xpw/s320/5.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You'll want a good relationship with the double half hitch and some patience for this one because there are lots of cords and hundreds of knots, but it's worth it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This tutorial is one of seventeen listed in <a href="http://www.knotjustmacrame.etsy.com/" target="_blank">my shop</a> and there's something for knotters of every ability from beginner to more advanced. You can find them all <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/KnotJustMacrame?ref=listing-shop-header-item-count&section_id=6212133" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy knotting!</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
OK, I'm just gonna say it: winter in Nebraska sucks unless you're a fan of cold wind and snow, which I am most <i>definitely </i>not. I've been spending a good deal of time indoors lately (translate: all my time) so I've had lots of chances to play with my cord and beads. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Currently, I am in love with GemDuo beads. They're diamond shaped and have two holes which I love for micro macrame because it keeps them from flipping over or turning around. The closeup above is from this cuff bracelet:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRPWQIKDvvS8aETWphDYFMAz8mkV3ngEHq0qhzgcxEaVtLQbuuoOYRy0n7mVrHJcQSB1ohyphenhyphencBzDQv-GtcVQrxRpF3_X8_NZ_vpasvFzy-GpvPvCf7cMJrIPUGXDtX4j91oLzIuqinyq04/s1600/20180204_10b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1201" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRPWQIKDvvS8aETWphDYFMAz8mkV3ngEHq0qhzgcxEaVtLQbuuoOYRy0n7mVrHJcQSB1ohyphenhyphencBzDQv-GtcVQrxRpF3_X8_NZ_vpasvFzy-GpvPvCf7cMJrIPUGXDtX4j91oLzIuqinyq04/s640/20180204_10b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's worked across instead of lengthwise like most micro macrame bracelets which allowed me to create this tiled pattern with the beads. There's something about the rows of knots that just really appeals to me, too. (If you want to try your hand at a piece worked this way, there's a <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/542733148/leafy-cuff-in-micro-macrame-tutorial?ref=shop_home_active_3" target="_blank">Leafy Cuff tutorial</a> available in <a href="http://www.knotjustmacrame.etsy.com/" target="_blank">my Etsy shop.</a>) I also used the white beads in a mandala necklace design:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYQM-2KW5FszDopNppbIu7iR01PoA1eEg5p3bM7WtSRfVq7nGKSxWMNuLpvhYXZWMow6cUnCTFmR56HPWWAo-rnBXOZ7JVNa70_qyywed7YyICNc9Pf17LimjwHpnqUetfkpjAKsTe-IQ/s1600/20180118_43a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1173" data-original-width="1600" height="468" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYQM-2KW5FszDopNppbIu7iR01PoA1eEg5p3bM7WtSRfVq7nGKSxWMNuLpvhYXZWMow6cUnCTFmR56HPWWAo-rnBXOZ7JVNa70_qyywed7YyICNc9Pf17LimjwHpnqUetfkpjAKsTe-IQ/s640/20180118_43a.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Don't they look fantastic? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I did a tutorial for another bracelet using these beads that will be available through The Beadsmith (no definite word on the date yet). It's this one:</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As I look out the window, I can actually see the ice coating the driveway and the wind sounds absolutely awful. Looks like I won't be going anywhere again today - I've stayed home so many days in a row my husband is starting to refer to me as "the recluse". Then again, I'm not the one who fell out there this morning so it seems to me maybe one of us is just smarter, right? If you're looking for me, I'll be downstairs with my feet up, probably watching something on BBC while I knot in front of the fireplace. Ahhhhhhh....</div>

Color me excited, people! I can finally share! I'm extra super excited about this one because this is the bead that gave me back my mojo. I don't know if you've noticed, but I've been in a major slump lately. And by "lately" I mean more than six months. Other things have been going on in my life and just sort of took the joy out of me. It's like I've been extra appreciative of time I can spend with my family and friends, but there's just been nothing left when it came time to create something. I've been going through the motions and doing a bit of designing for the Beadsmith but the passion just hasn't been there. And then this happened!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwW-2R9ccCgcSzFLVVJ-QyStOrgbUZGLAEl_hKxMWycteyPjoVusjMtMwMvMRd4NrgEeOt6IqhC-MfvGY5hqYlYqAD0LBdUdZA7MRSLNLgOzHwyBXrsUhm8Qvq1i5vuEIbewVKmfQMeDQ/s1600/1a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwW-2R9ccCgcSzFLVVJ-QyStOrgbUZGLAEl_hKxMWycteyPjoVusjMtMwMvMRd4NrgEeOt6IqhC-MfvGY5hqYlYqAD0LBdUdZA7MRSLNLgOzHwyBXrsUhm8Qvq1i5vuEIbewVKmfQMeDQ/s640/1a.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Steven (Beadsmith Biggie) called and asked if I could design something using a new super secret bead. I said "sure" because I never say no to Steven (he's a really nice guy who sends me <i>beads</i>!) and because I kept hoping to find that spark again. The beads arrived and they were pink. Uh huh. Well, more coral which is better than baby pink but still close enough to pink in my book to scare the bejezus out of me. And then it was Christmas. And then my family all came down with Influenza A. And then my grandmother (she's 92) fell and broke her hip. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW46fsh5VTYeRG-m3XynZgEXcFJsTfmAAAolPFmMSKnqpQGmEWhlBWv5mnT_MKKiQMsSagY_iXk54-IGlhIIIJg2S5OcbcnskSJr7wN04DhSIsgXkKAzb0t6_MuGHWNXw2atf9MjEBxdg/s1600/20180129_34.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1230" data-original-width="1600" height="307" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW46fsh5VTYeRG-m3XynZgEXcFJsTfmAAAolPFmMSKnqpQGmEWhlBWv5mnT_MKKiQMsSagY_iXk54-IGlhIIIJg2S5OcbcnskSJr7wN04DhSIsgXkKAzb0t6_MuGHWNXw2atf9MjEBxdg/s400/20180129_34.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I finally managed to sit down to make something I was only one week away from my deadline. The super secret beads are called Paisley Duos and are a really pretty paisley shape with two holes. There's another paisley shaped bead on the market but you can't just flip it over to make the paisley shape curve the other direction like you can with this new bead. I have always been a fan of paisley...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf8BJ9_yyzN2PCqeG7vBi4lfirLGjgA5DFfHb5b8M7gbQaIJzovCydmf9a1u53YjiKqWCtrb9yTHqVVdydFjdiGfXFkD9L8n2DwchEWW1i3502kzz7jDcnQP2TPk7Vo9yY8LmnXCHaWQ8/s1600/20180129_36.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf8BJ9_yyzN2PCqeG7vBi4lfirLGjgA5DFfHb5b8M7gbQaIJzovCydmf9a1u53YjiKqWCtrb9yTHqVVdydFjdiGfXFkD9L8n2DwchEWW1i3502kzz7jDcnQP2TPk7Vo9yY8LmnXCHaWQ8/s400/20180129_36.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I tried really hard to find a design to really showcase the beads and I really wanted to show them going both directions but the harder I tried to force it, the more I disliked the outcome. And then it came to me! I wanted to try working them into a round mandala-like design. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkRstnbkkoYXgqyJhh_Xxb__jFhxTHUzh5A9nH2_WW8xEn6GN5mM7WKUqos3EnERV9fuaOY7I0Yq9jiI5tZiC3tyIFnqa1AQ5_IhVg8HvmMHKzE4Cx6pEbz7p8zp_cF2DqQvjKKzDyTXI/s1600/280553FF-C898-47FF-9C8B-48CAEBB71691.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1359" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkRstnbkkoYXgqyJhh_Xxb__jFhxTHUzh5A9nH2_WW8xEn6GN5mM7WKUqos3EnERV9fuaOY7I0Yq9jiI5tZiC3tyIFnqa1AQ5_IhVg8HvmMHKzE4Cx6pEbz7p8zp_cF2DqQvjKKzDyTXI/s640/280553FF-C898-47FF-9C8B-48CAEBB71691.jpg" width="542" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finally! A piece that felt like it was from my heart. I am just a tiny bit disappointed that it seems to show off the Gem Duos (the white diamond shaped beads) a bit more than the Paisley Duos but I'm calling it a win.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjABJFkmTCWztb6s4CkdaeqWAwNI5UolD523TR0Y3Naa3bJFWQtz43O3lOAptpY_e-YTRA134d58SCU0p5FkiWdf26nIhxM-rwZu8gj09BRB4VR0Bulx1nAt34rWOvR7DWVvlE3oQRqe8Y/s1600/20180111_11a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1456" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjABJFkmTCWztb6s4CkdaeqWAwNI5UolD523TR0Y3Naa3bJFWQtz43O3lOAptpY_e-YTRA134d58SCU0p5FkiWdf26nIhxM-rwZu8gj09BRB4VR0Bulx1nAt34rWOvR7DWVvlE3oQRqe8Y/s640/20180111_11a.jpg" width="582" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And what's more, I've been loving my micro macrame time again. I've tried several variations on this mandala design and each has been beautiful and unique (including the one I've already shown you in <a href="http://www.knotjustmacrame.com/2018/01/hello-world-its-me.html" target="_blank">this post)</a>. I'll show you them in more detail in my next few posts, but here's a peek at my micro macrame mandala necklaces: </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ta da! I finally get to show off one of my new micro macrame bracelet designs using new beads from the Beadsmith! You don't know how hard it is for me to keep my mouth shut when I'm excited about something. I swear, it's physical pain. I'm not much of a "hold it in" kind of person; I'm more of a "wear it on my face" and "shout it from the rooftops" kinda gal. Anyway, the sadistic folks over at the Beadsmith sent me these Baroque Cabochons back in November (yes, that's <i>November</i>) and then wouldn't let me share until now (I'm typing that in my best whiny, self-pitying voice). </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR5v8rpAje-unKc6gvC_Ndob7dRO3sJ8IH2KrAf03Q7q5eK9hIeEGkaLpufJzC-pPCTF1g2X7JQgJGzeQsHJKyK_8Uw9A51372KmGrFkapKbyssNtdT1tGrM3ED6N2uHyXs4tocxRA4Mc/s1600/20171107_3ab.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1187" data-original-width="1600" height="474" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR5v8rpAje-unKc6gvC_Ndob7dRO3sJ8IH2KrAf03Q7q5eK9hIeEGkaLpufJzC-pPCTF1g2X7JQgJGzeQsHJKyK_8Uw9A51372KmGrFkapKbyssNtdT1tGrM3ED6N2uHyXs4tocxRA4Mc/s640/20171107_3ab.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Baroque Cab beads have two holes running parallel through them which makes them perfect for a design like this because they don't flip over when the bracelet is worn. Oh, and I learned something, too. I thought cabochons (cabs) were undrilled (no holes) but they are polished instead of faceted. These are definitely not faceted - the surface is roughly dimpled which makes the backlit coloring in these appear very different in different light or with different colors. The three bracelets in the photo above are all done with the very same beads, but they pick up some color from the cord.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiABoiM8Bnn-jA-smRVMb1IWyZFWFovbFFxC2rB2Dt2aATGlNkYN_Zp7Rd94w_w67CltZS3WgGUwceju9sltg-WQpyLJZpS2CA290NcfuGFKwdQbdwO1ywa6xOzyQ2lpM-DKeWXLKW02X4/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1172" data-original-width="1600" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiABoiM8Bnn-jA-smRVMb1IWyZFWFovbFFxC2rB2Dt2aATGlNkYN_Zp7Rd94w_w67CltZS3WgGUwceju9sltg-WQpyLJZpS2CA290NcfuGFKwdQbdwO1ywa6xOzyQ2lpM-DKeWXLKW02X4/s400/3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The knotted sections between the beads look like tatting but they're actually done with macrame - lark's head knots. I like how the empty space in the macrame sections mirrors the shape of the beads. Something about that is just very satisfying.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyhow... I still have another design I can't show you yet because I used super secret beads, but at least I got to get this one out there! Whew! That's a load off! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'll be back in a few days to unveil the other piece (I hope). See you soon! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
PS. Is it bragging and unbecoming to share with you that the Beadsmith used my bracelet design and my photo in <a href="https://www.helby.com/NA/NA_D011918_BaroqCabs.html" target="_blank">their release for the new bead</a>? It really made my day when I opened their email and found this: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hi, there! My name is Sherri and I make micro macrame jewelry. I've (apparently) been on hiatus (for who knows what reason) the last couple of months. There's been all sorts of excitement around here with the holidays and family and Influenza A and a broken hip (stop that! Not my hip!). There hasn't been as much macrame around here as I'd like, but I'm hoping to change all that!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You might remember that I'm a member of the Beadsmith Inspiration Squad? They send me fun new beads and I make fun new pieces to show them off. It's a sweet gig, I'm not gonna lie. The <i>only </i>trouble is when I make something I'm dying to show off and I can't because the beads are <i>so</i> new they're "super secret". *sigh* It's killing me. I swear, my insides are drying up just a little. Steven says they will be unveiling all the new stuff at the bead shows coming up in a week or so and then I'll be able to share. I'll be here tapping my foot and "waiting" impatiently.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Meanshile, I did make one new piece I can share!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnhDirMNdc0ktRL6SKK2s4qw99LdGqAEzQckBRTtJlaHfW8MCkqy-87x358UDVERLJNxcZ_uZ2eTndqOBPDNdg8QGhe5PSwYKucOELLxOVI3HZAiLWh3_XZdtH_J5gL7YwThZvHXjN8js/s1600/DSCN1576+a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnhDirMNdc0ktRL6SKK2s4qw99LdGqAEzQckBRTtJlaHfW8MCkqy-87x358UDVERLJNxcZ_uZ2eTndqOBPDNdg8QGhe5PSwYKucOELLxOVI3HZAiLWh3_XZdtH_J5gL7YwThZvHXjN8js/s640/DSCN1576+a.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm so excited about this one I could wet myself (don't laugh, it happens)! I love all the pattern and the texture and the symmetry makes my OCD soul happy. Those white beads are GemDuos and I think they add a lot of interest to this piece. Well, those and the daggers. And the tiny gemstone beads to keep everything from being too "perfect". </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That's it for now. I promised myself I didn't have to do an earth-shattering, life-changing post. Sometimes it's baby steps. Just know that I am still here! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Okay, okay, I'll admit I haven't been the greatest about blogging lately. Those of you who remember writing letters will remember the dilemma - I feel like I should write but I don't have anything really exciting to write about. It's not that I'm not doing anything - I am! I swear! Proof:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGb08ez972TRMCPjSen-8-o57p0-niTXgQuFOaa7epgihmrFhbsxZV0oCSfMs5Oei-dEq_AXcRr6fZudCjuuwhKsgFQeCG14lmuUlsJ6OQw9cdXc2g6Ibnr5qJgSMby75aDc-FTITfs5Y/s1600/20171029_8a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGb08ez972TRMCPjSen-8-o57p0-niTXgQuFOaa7epgihmrFhbsxZV0oCSfMs5Oei-dEq_AXcRr6fZudCjuuwhKsgFQeCG14lmuUlsJ6OQw9cdXc2g6Ibnr5qJgSMby75aDc-FTITfs5Y/s640/20171029_8a.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Aren't those elephant buttons cool? I'm on an elephant kick lately - even got one for my bedroom:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhe-yUq0ZCaMGf_MwVyR7j-sQeA3sP7AsnFlTveIXMXnPRsiRloQOw4Y7f3Tey30h1rb1askFzfeI-yUxozuObIxYTG6bOrMrzv4DWZ726cRVEp6OYa8Dl9c6SJSjzh8JP_Fo-VKNmWzb0/s1600/9868196A-7E8E-4F9A-A750-6946AD552207.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhe-yUq0ZCaMGf_MwVyR7j-sQeA3sP7AsnFlTveIXMXnPRsiRloQOw4Y7f3Tey30h1rb1askFzfeI-yUxozuObIxYTG6bOrMrzv4DWZ726cRVEp6OYa8Dl9c6SJSjzh8JP_Fo-VKNmWzb0/s400/9868196A-7E8E-4F9A-A750-6946AD552207.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But I digress. Besides the elephant bracelets (which are listed in my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/KnotJustMacrame?ref=l2-shopheader-name" target="_blank">shop</a> btw, if you're looking for a special gift for someone) and a stray dragon bracelet (also <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/568203271/gray-dragon-beaded-macrame-bracelet-soft?ref=shop_home_active_6" target="_blank">listed</a>), I've done several other "projects" like painting my not-niece's (not technically my niece, but she seems like one!) new (old) house. Actually, my poor husband ended up doing most of the work since he runs the paint sprayer, but I was there every step of the way for emotional support and menial chores like keeping the paint bucket filled. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyCcmdM7z4EGlG70XppqxHEKkzFqfiLaOm07W85GCqWJ44yoglFVOkinLtRp9TExGfajXHsfy-V-GjwyTJV6vjn01aHjktgIjZa7SmxwyLF5c1whxpn0ElNKCBM4g3l1e6s9Rh270L5Mw/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="595" data-original-width="1600" height="238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyCcmdM7z4EGlG70XppqxHEKkzFqfiLaOm07W85GCqWJ44yoglFVOkinLtRp9TExGfajXHsfy-V-GjwyTJV6vjn01aHjktgIjZa7SmxwyLF5c1whxpn0ElNKCBM4g3l1e6s9Rh270L5Mw/s640/PicMonkey+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also did random things like baking pine cones:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw52H6nMwNOm2cAk0MWdE3T6nhqVulCvIF2-Up1TKKnjt7mVDJGDG2XFJ_UUIQlTIs7AoYZJ4Eqb1uYBHjzTIx_dO6EkX_tCNiCg0eTzCDO3wpSqpD6aSYwRxxU2ZktItRRRyWWMoS-3Q/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw52H6nMwNOm2cAk0MWdE3T6nhqVulCvIF2-Up1TKKnjt7mVDJGDG2XFJ_UUIQlTIs7AoYZJ4Eqb1uYBHjzTIx_dO6EkX_tCNiCg0eTzCDO3wpSqpD6aSYwRxxU2ZktItRRRyWWMoS-3Q/s320/1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Which led to my oven conking out on me. Well, it actually did the opposite of conking out (conking on?) because the bottom element came on full blast and would not shut off. I had to kill the breaker to get it to stop. It had nothing to do with the pine cones, really, other than they were what was in there (smoking!) at the time the thing went haywire. For those of you just dying to know why I was baking pine cones, we wanted to put them on my daughter's Christmas tree and I'd read that you should soak them in a vinegar solution and then bake them on low for a bit to kill any critters that might have been living in them before you brought them indoors. Anyway, I'm getting new appliances one at a time as the old ones die off, so I can't complain.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, the tree!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwZn6fzrRffR2VHQIfInu1kITSfOS_OKtrHLFp6q0lPwOw-keY_akpMi7DMaqXrZAEmcIYZZ4CAlj0h5k4nSbRNdxhb1N95EDTPG16wYqWhUWGcSTMJ4DwfgfKTWjaKoLAXgxSBb0auU4/s1600/23635384_10213483629158973_1130635372_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="899" data-original-width="619" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwZn6fzrRffR2VHQIfInu1kITSfOS_OKtrHLFp6q0lPwOw-keY_akpMi7DMaqXrZAEmcIYZZ4CAlj0h5k4nSbRNdxhb1N95EDTPG16wYqWhUWGcSTMJ4DwfgfKTWjaKoLAXgxSBb0auU4/s640/23635384_10213483629158973_1130635372_n.jpg" width="440" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />Isn't it gorgeous!?! We wanted a fuzzy, furry look and searched high and low for some sort of ribbon or garland and came up empty-handed. After a lot of shopping, we found a table runner:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggPYRvTyI7u11oRiTa_A0rPTzgN8oq35m7pDCYn8BdTdOjLUqW0PK5tRyp7Sb7CH_IE68OS8cVclgNsnxnEUvXi3n4t3iHRL2WyrCSqBQlVcwTbggdMn7WRPjhOWOMPednnV3tszwefb0/s1600/20171102_45.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1526" data-original-width="1600" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggPYRvTyI7u11oRiTa_A0rPTzgN8oq35m7pDCYn8BdTdOjLUqW0PK5tRyp7Sb7CH_IE68OS8cVclgNsnxnEUvXi3n4t3iHRL2WyrCSqBQlVcwTbggdMn7WRPjhOWOMPednnV3tszwefb0/s320/20171102_45.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We pulled out the stitching and took the backing off, then measured off strips:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyk27NoCNeMQiwtoPtsl1U6MKxguVtLLaiaTq4QfvweTkNYYIsQ59b4cxbf5nl_mYGkkgW9UfUIoRDKoSE3acnjWfZhAY3hKFbSbos7te6H_ZPdzNY-7-gYpwREsQKg16nWm2ZBhZjjnc/s1600/23585290_10213483629798989_441129806_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyk27NoCNeMQiwtoPtsl1U6MKxguVtLLaiaTq4QfvweTkNYYIsQ59b4cxbf5nl_mYGkkgW9UfUIoRDKoSE3acnjWfZhAY3hKFbSbos7te6H_ZPdzNY-7-gYpwREsQKg16nWm2ZBhZjjnc/s400/23585290_10213483629798989_441129806_o.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And cut it up to make the furry garland you see on the tree. We're pretty proud of ourselves for that one. It's exactly the soft look we were going for. The pine cones got a coat of white paint and some "snow" on them to add to the white, lush look. It's hard to see in the photo, but the "topper" is a mask that looks like it should be worn to the fanciest masquerade ball with glitter and crystal and feathers and draping ribbon. Such a pretty tree.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So see, I have been busy! And you know what else I did? I got another class converted to a tutorial! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

The <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/555384844/drunkards-path-micro-macrame-tutorial?ref=shop_home_active_1" target="_blank">Drunkard's Path micro macrame bracelet tutorial</a> has over 50 step by step photos and very clear instructions for all skill levels. It helps if you have a knowledge of the basic macrame knots (like a double half hitch) but no worries if you don't. There are videos here on <a href="http://www.knotjustmacrame.com/p/knot.html" target="_blank">my blog</a> to show you how to do it! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Boy, oh boy, have I been lazy about blogging lately or what!? I swear I have less time now than when I was working full time and I can't for the life of me figure out how that works! I haven't been idle, though. I did manage to get another of my designs previously only offered as an online class converted to a .pdf download. It's the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/551197288/woven-diamonds-micro-macrame-tutorial?ref=shop_home_active_1" target="_blank">Woven Diamonds micro macrame bracelet</a> and it's one of my favorites. I love the contrast of the textured (knotted) diamond sections with the smooth arcs of beads. </div>

Isn't this a fun piece? I finally got around to making this skeleton bride pendant into a necklace. I made the pendant last year using <a href="http://www.knotjustmacrame.com/2016/08/classes-cakes-shrinkydinks.html" target="_blank">ShrinkyDinks plastic and colored pencils</a> and I just love how she turned out. To make a necklace, I added some knotted macrame straps with a cool spiral pattern, pulling out the green and blue colors with a hint of black. Then I put just a pop of red where I connected the straps with the pendant. A couple of jump rings and a clasp and voila!</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A few of my best beady buddies decided to do a blog hop with the theme of "your favorite song". I love the inspiration of a hop so I signed up, but when I tried to decide what my favorite song <i>is,</i> I hit a wall. Apparently, I don't really have a favorite song. It's more like a favorite song of the moment, depending on my mood and the situation. Mostly I like songs that make me feel happy and the song I chose is a perfect example of that. Baby Elephant Walk:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/kRQ7Aej7PQk/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kRQ7Aej7PQk?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Okay, so I realize this is probably not a typical choice for a favorite song, but it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and never fails to bring a smile to my face (I mean, seriously, what kind of monster doesn't love baby elephants?) so that's my final answer. For today, anyway. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Baby Elephant Walk was written by Henry Mancini for the film <i>Hatari</i>. I remember seeing the movie on television at my grandparents' house when I was a little kid and it takes me back to a kinder, gentler time. I had <b>such</b> a good childhood. My mom was always the best (she used to surprise me with little things like a new nightgown she made for me or a bag full of "groceries" for my play kitchen) and my grandparents were <i>exactly</i> what grandparents should be. They also got cable television (hey, it's a big deal if you live outside of town and only get two channels, and that's <i>if</i> the weather is good and the rabbit ears are in the perfect position). I remember watching <i>Daktari</i> at their house, too, probably around the same time. Oh, and <i>Born Free</i>! I'm not sure why these shows all appealed so much to my young self, but they sure did. And The Baby Elephant Walk just seems to sum all that up perfectly.</div>

One of my favorite lampwork artists, Mary Bush of <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/HoneyBearBeads" target="_blank">Honey Bear Beads</a>, recently made the perfect bead for a piece inspired by my chosen song - it's an elephant! She added some floral accents to the bead so I pulled those colors in the micro macrame knotting. I played around for a long time trying to frame out the bead without overpowering it. I made three different versions of the petal pattern at the bottom before deciding on this overlapping one in raspberry with yellow gold accents. I think it achieves a sort of exotic vibe. Once I had that nailed down, I just repeated that motif at the top and added a coordinating knotwork strap with beads and Bob's your uncle! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Don't you love it when a plan comes together? Even if there's a little detour along the way? It all started when the folks over at The Beadsmith sent me some new GemDuo beads to try. They're little diamond shapes with two holes and are "backlit". The ones they sent me were in a color called "tequila" (how appropriate is that LOL). I don't even have words to explain this backlit business to you, but the color on these beads is practically a living thing. It changes a <i>lot </i>depending on the light and the angle and is nearly impossible to photograph. And it is <i>soooooooo</i> pretty!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhjzKKUYTNwOaQhd1zFR9zxz2fZ-UZucZFpK_2NCYirKitDLAapvXV0Yc0AihbEHofHuDbPrEhUY80blQ-oYdTZRVzuGmcTZYKjrGIe48vZikr2j7-lr7R2Gs_AI4VBE1a4KyZZ2ivWCg/s1600/20170914_40.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhjzKKUYTNwOaQhd1zFR9zxz2fZ-UZucZFpK_2NCYirKitDLAapvXV0Yc0AihbEHofHuDbPrEhUY80blQ-oYdTZRVzuGmcTZYKjrGIe48vZikr2j7-lr7R2Gs_AI4VBE1a4KyZZ2ivWCg/s320/20170914_40.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was all excited to try them out so I strung together this little section of them with S-lon bead cord (.5mm) intending to make them the centerpiece of a necklace with straps playing off the diamond shape. Unfortunately, I did this part in the evening. The next morning when I picked it up to finish it, I decided it <i>wasn't</i> just the light playing tricks on me and one of my beads <i>was</i> the wrong color! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have no idea how this could have happened - I swear I only have one bag of these beads and that oddball blue one should <b>not </b>be there. But there he is in all his beautiful blueness, just hangin' out and doin' his own thang. While I admire his attitude, it just won't work for my purposes. I decided to scrap the whole necklace design, but I really liked the way the beads fit together, so I went back to the drawing board but kept that part in mind. Oh, and I made a new rule: no beading with really shiny, color-changing beads at night. Those little buggers demand full sunlight.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiht-hJvrLxzlHOKqYy1esT6qWQKWc2dFWKRX-_Ldz1R7jVCTSucdfAI7Kp7sQ7bpSprsZ3PRZJjUDiHtt4iDjSRyCwehwIeWPOi7lBGrHgFEobI0ZMWPT305WfTwETkXQvkMUdaGumhEw/s1600/20170918_45b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1207" data-original-width="1600" height="301" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiht-hJvrLxzlHOKqYy1esT6qWQKWc2dFWKRX-_Ldz1R7jVCTSucdfAI7Kp7sQ7bpSprsZ3PRZJjUDiHtt4iDjSRyCwehwIeWPOi7lBGrHgFEobI0ZMWPT305WfTwETkXQvkMUdaGumhEw/s400/20170918_45b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I ended up with a diamond shape in the center of my bracelet with a row of the beads running through the length of it. I think it adds just the right amount of interest.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The beads are the same in both of those bracelets, and don't they look different? </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had a lot of fun with these beads, I have to admit. I tried to come up with a design that really lets them be front and center and show off. </div>

I did have a good excuse this week, though. Our house was in the path of totality for the eclipse! How lucky is that!? We could walk right out on our deck and watch the whole thing unfold with no crowds and no traffic. Bliss. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
And there I go again... off track. :) </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Change is inevitable, I guess, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. CraftArtEdu is closing. As of this posting, they've already stopped selling classes. Not to worry, though, the folks there aren't leaving you hanging if you have already purchased classes. Your classes will still be available to you (all the details are <a href="http://mailchi.mp/craftartedu/four-week-countdown-faqs?e=4108765518" target="_blank">here</a>). I have really enjoyed working with Donna and Vernon and the gang and I'm going to miss them all. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Several of my favorite designs have been available only as online classes through CraftArtEdu. I will be working on converting them to tutorials and listing them in my Etsy shop, but it's going to be a process. The CraftArtEdu platform allowed me to use voice-over narration as well as video in my classes which I really liked. With Etsy I will have to rely on only the still photos and written instructions. Good thing I take <i>lots and lots </i>of photos!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first class I tackled as the Micro Macrame Wrap Bracelet. I love this one! I designed it as a fun way to learn five different macrame knots and the bonus is that you end up with a bracelet! The instructions are written for someone who hasn't ever done macrame before with over 70 pictures and 19 pages in the tutorial. I also have videos on the blog (<a href="http://www.knotjustmacrame.com/p/knot.html" target="_blank">here</a>) in case you need a little more help on any of the knots. The new downloadable tutorial is available in my Etsy shop (<a href="http://knotjustmacrame.etsy.com/" target="_blank">KnotJustMacrame.etsy.com</a>) here: <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/548934757/micro-macrame-tutorial-wrap-bracelet?ref=pr_shop" target="_blank">Micro Macrame Wrap Bracelet</a>.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To make it easier for beginners who don't want to have to shop around for the right materials or for people who just like to have coordinating beads and cord all picked out for them, I do offer materials kits to go along with the Micro Macrame Wrap Bracelet Tutorial. There is a whole section of them <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/KnotJustMacrame?ref=l2-shopheader-name&section_id=7986743" target="_blank">here</a>. I have twenty different kits listed right now with a nice variety of colors. There are even a couple of the peacock kits to make this bracelet:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a thing for handmade ceramic Kazuri beads, so you'll also find a lot of the kits that feature them:</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And the only thing better than that (in my humble opinion) is a <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/548939899/elephant-and-kazuri-wrap-kit-56-micro?ref=shop_home_active_8" target="_blank">kit with Kazuri beads AND elephants</a>:<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Working with CraftArtEdu was a very positive experience for me and I learned a lot working with the professionals there. I will miss it greatly but if there's one thing I've figured out it's that you never know what life has in store for you around the next corner. Whatever it is, I'll see you there!</div>

I honestly thought when I found Frooster the Fruit Rooster at a garage sale it was a once in a lifetime kind of thing. It was such a standout experience, I even wrote a post about it: <a href="http://www.knotjustmacrame.com/2015/07/frooster-fruit-rooster.html" target="_blank">Frooster the Fruit Rooster</a>. Frooster's one sexy chicken and he's not afraid to flaunt it:</div>

If there are any chicken experts out there reading my posts, I'll apologize now if my use of "banty" is technically incorrect, but this little guy seems full of attitude. He's sporting some pretty sweet boots:</div>

I saw him and had to have him. You just don't find treasures like this all the time, you know. You have to go to a <i>lot</i> of garage sales to find stuff this good.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I tried to get him to sit down and jaw a bit (old western roosters don't visit, they jaw if you can get them talking), but he wasn't in the mood. I'm going to have to introduce him to Frooster. Maybe that would loosen him up a bit.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Besides the fact that I bought another chicken at a garage sale (one that's wearing glittery cowboy boots), you know what's really funny? When I wrote the Frooster post, I added a label for "garage sale chickens". Seriously, in-the-past me? We were anticipating a string of garage sale chicken purchases? Sometimes I even worry myself. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Carry on.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a pretty bracelet, if I do say so myself! I know, I know, the colors are so NOT me, but I'm feeling it. I love everything about this piece from the multiple strands to the shiny crystal beads I used (another oddity for me!). It's fun to wear and it's fun to make, so I thought I'd offer a <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/544473737/micro-macrame-tutorial-marrakesh?ref=shop_home_active_1" target="_blank">tutorial</a> for it in case any of you want to make one for yourself.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdo19ieDCRSKMFEh_LjsxrvA8vVJ7i8fFPmj4BGinifjhea7CnWIsl5t32HSXvjkbPUu1TRcCmlKi0J5SZ6yCh93g9MVGsPukH2ZxWuaBXM1di4XyaI-sHSpAqJ-fJLgXlANpIWd1ZSjg/s1600/20170712_91.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1483" data-original-width="1600" height="592" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdo19ieDCRSKMFEh_LjsxrvA8vVJ7i8fFPmj4BGinifjhea7CnWIsl5t32HSXvjkbPUu1TRcCmlKi0J5SZ6yCh93g9MVGsPukH2ZxWuaBXM1di4XyaI-sHSpAqJ-fJLgXlANpIWd1ZSjg/s640/20170712_91.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you haven't tried one of <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/KnotJustMacrame?ref=pr_shop_more&section_id=6212133" target="_blank">my tutorials</a> before (or one of my online classes), I hope you'll give it a try. I spend a lot of time photographing every step and then I spend even more time editing all those photos to try to give you the best tutorial I can. I add lots of detail and break everything down so that you can see what I'm doing and follow along. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And just in case the photos and written instructions aren't enough, I have videos here on my blog that show you how to make each of the knots. That being said, I realized I didn't have a video here for a vertical double half hitch, so I made one:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Pbk1-bU8sfo/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="399" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Pbk1-bU8sfo?feature=player_embedded" width="480"></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can find the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/544473737/micro-macrame-tutorial-marrakesh?ref=shop_home_active_1" target="_blank">tutorial for the Marrakesh bracelet</a> available in <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/KnotJustMacrame" target="_blank">my Knot Just Macrame Etsy shop</a> along with several <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/KnotJustMacrame?ref=pr_shop_more&section_id=6212133" target="_blank">other tutorials</a> for different micro macrame projects. This new tutorial is suitable for all levels, even beginners. As a little extra incentive, I'm offering a special introductory price for the next week AND having a sale on all my other tutorials!<br />
<br />
Happy knotting!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
Isn't this a gorgeous colorway? It feels so summery somehow and the copper in it seems to really set off the aqua blue and chartreuse green. The copper beads actually new Czech micro spacers and are copper plated glass with faceting which adds a lot of interest to them.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This multiple strand bracelet just screams summer to me. It's lots of fun to wear. After making these two bracelets, I was feeling pretty cocky. I decided to try something with some two hole dagger beads Leslie from the Beadsmith had sent. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihFS_UfGtLiTTjhBjbC1Yf1SI9fGDpBKL_TJXXlhxr0dg2UIZQNR5wbzX_ys3d9OAq0M7FXSyqKld4XiDoj52FrzRueVAm-GWzNWsQ_6mo521U8RDYdXJU2i8YD0J-gegSQZ113Qb_RFA/s1600/19702395_1869109853102962_4796874954125538849_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihFS_UfGtLiTTjhBjbC1Yf1SI9fGDpBKL_TJXXlhxr0dg2UIZQNR5wbzX_ys3d9OAq0M7FXSyqKld4XiDoj52FrzRueVAm-GWzNWsQ_6mo521U8RDYdXJU2i8YD0J-gegSQZ113Qb_RFA/s400/19702395_1869109853102962_4796874954125538849_n.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Let's just be kind and say it didn't exactly go as planned. I started at the top using a 2/0 bead in the center and a dagger on either side. The daggers didn't want to stay straight. As if that wasn't bad enough, I couldn't get the cord color pattern to work out right. <span style="background-color: #f6d5d9;">A</span>fter a few pattern repeats it was clear this design was not a keeper, so I abandoned it and just started experimenting to see what might work. I added a second dagger bead to each side which did help to stabilize them. Although it was completely unintended, the two daggers give an impression of dragonfly wings. I decided to expand on that and came up with this:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJXR6xkZy42nfgEOy7bmizjjrtIyt_ySLjrn61QDHVMNolejArT8mNK8V_nXVvIng91ZIDUZlNePJWl5e3yvgD2bEQuMNJsw_9_HTiJWG1uc80vkhgyYoxZ-h7XZiSe24SrA44bvDoE9k/s1600/20170710_5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJXR6xkZy42nfgEOy7bmizjjrtIyt_ySLjrn61QDHVMNolejArT8mNK8V_nXVvIng91ZIDUZlNePJWl5e3yvgD2bEQuMNJsw_9_HTiJWG1uc80vkhgyYoxZ-h7XZiSe24SrA44bvDoE9k/s400/20170710_5.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's kind of fun and different, anyway! So there you have it: three very different micro macrame bracelets in the aqua and chartreuse colorway with some fun new beads thrown in for good measure. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

It's hard to believe it's the 4th of July already. Seems like summer just got here and now I have to start the countdown to the end of it. At the beginning of every summer I swear I'm going to slow down and enjoy it more and now that I'm retired, I'm able to do just that.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Independence Day always seems like a good excuse to break out the red, white and blue. This year I made a multiple strand macrame bracelet with a tube bar clasp. I did a little knotting on either side of the clasp which I think adds a little something extra, then I randomly added beads to the strands. I had some 3-cut Matubo beads in blue picasso and some fun little Czech glass stars. Silver micro spacers add some extra sparkle and fun.</div>

Howdy and Happy Summer! We hit 107°F here last week (that's 41.7°C for the rest of the world) and I loved it. It's <i>summer</i>, baby! It's <i>supposed</i> to be hot! I've spent a ridiculous amount of time in the pool, but I've also managed to squeeze in a little macrame. I also finally managed to get <a href="http://www.knotjustmacrame.com/" target="_blank">my blog</a> domain straightened out again, in case any of you noticed it missing lately. It wasn't really missing, but it was darned hard to get to without knowing all kinds of complicated stuff I don't even want to know about. My hat's off to GoDaddy's customer support team and I'm back in business!</div>

Notice that extra logo on my photos? I'm absolutely thrilled to have been asked to be on the <a href="https://www.beadsmith.com/designers.htm" target="_blank">BeadSmith Inspiration Squad</a>! I'm both humbled and honored to be included in this amazingly talented group of people - they are seriously some of the most creative people I've seen in jewelry design. And the best part? Guess what they want me to do? Guess. Just guess. Didja guess? </div>

Okay, I'll tell you: they want me to play with beads and cord and stuff. O.M.G. Have I died and gone to heaven? They want me to create with their beautiful products. I can DO that! </div>

The nylon bead cord I use for knotting micro macrame bracelets comes in some gorgeous colors. Since I've been on a quest to fill my world with color lately, I guess it was reasonable to want to make a bracelet in each of the colors? (Note: "reasonable" in my world may differ from "reasonable" in the minds of others.) I did run out of steam after about a dozen, but it's a pretty good start, don't you think? I also used some of the newest beads from the BeadSmith - micro spacers. They're tiny (2x3mm) and are faceted so they catch the light nicely and add a little extra something to my macrame bracelets. I'm already a fan!</div>
