Lots of you have asked me for patterns or instructions for macrame
jewelry. I've never written any tutorials, so we're going to have to
start out with something simple. The bracelets in this stack are all
made with a single type of knot: the square knot. I varied the beads
and buttons as well as the colors to make the stack more interesting.
Hmm.... I used too many steps to put all of the pictures here, so let's try this: Tutorial
I hope you'll give it a try - and let me know what I can improve for my next tutorial!
Very nice job on both your blog and the tutorial! I may get brave and vie this a try!
ReplyDeleteI hope you will, Kimberly! VERY easy - I promise!

DeleteThose bracelets are really cool. I think your tutorial is easy to follow too. Don't give away too much info though cause I have a feeling someone is going go approach you to put them up for sale! Get ready!!! Will try my hand at it and send you the results...congrats gain on the blog!
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial for a first one! I just wish that there was a way to print it out so that I don't have to have my laptop with me.
ReplyDeleteSherri this is great - `I've been meaning to try Macrame ever since I came across your work and this is just the impetus I need. Thank you and good luck with the blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lesley!
DeleteEasy to follow tutorial and the inspirational examples at the end are very helpful. I will feature and link back in a future post so others can come visit!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pearl! I would really appreciate that. I subscribe to your blog via email and I look forward to my fix every morning:)

ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Patti:)
DeleteCould I please ask? What thread and size do you use? There is so much different stuff out there.
ReplyDeleteI used C-Lon Tex 400 for these, but you could use hemp or satin cord or pretty much anything. Just make sure that it will fit through the beads you choose:)
DeleteWhere do you find your beads and stuff. Some of them are so stunning.
ReplyDeleteLOL - Lee, I'm a magpie. I hunt them down & gather them up from everywhere! I get handmade beads, pendants, etc from the artists on Etsy. In this stack, the Egyptian themed button is vintage and I got that from Etsy. The sea turtle button is from Gems & Knots online. The white beads are bone and I think I got those from Happy Mango Beads. I got the cord and seed beads from Bello Modo online. It's the thrill of the hunt for me:)
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I live in BC Canada and go to Vancouver Island every summer to visit my parents and they have this place called Coombs and it is a total artsy eclectic place. If you ever have a chance you should visit. They have two or three bead shops and I try and pick up new beads when I go. I especially love your dragon bracelets. Reminds me of Game of Thrones and now I want one hahaha. :)
